Raku & Pit Firing Practice / 2010–2012 / Wrocław & Srebrna Góra, Poland
Between 2010 and 2012, my professional ceramic practice centered on raku firing and pit firing, developed in Wrocław and Srebrna Góra through close collaboration with fellow artists. This body of work explored the dialogue between material, fire and chance, using open-flame processes that embraced unpredictability as a core creative force.
Working with hand-built kilns, combustible materials and rapid thermal shifts, each firing produced surfaces shaped by smoke patterns, carbon tracing and crackled glazes. The process emphasized direct physical engagement with clay and fire, where control was balanced with acceptance of natural transformation.
This period was defined not only by technical experimentation, but also by collective making shared construction, firing and discovery. The resulting works stand as individual records of these intense, ephemeral moments, each piece bearing unique marks of flame, atmosphere and time.
